Hello,

I am sorry. I searched and searched and I was unable to find anything that said that there was a battery inside the "dual screen unit". Looking at the website, Insignia has many other portable DVD players. I am thinking that when someone said that they had a battery they were referring to those other units. I even looked through the manual and there was NO mention of a battery, internal or otherwise, except for in the remote control. This may be why you had two other units that wouldn't work off of "battery" power. Insignia only sells one dual screen unit (active and discontinued). Do you recall where you got the information that there was a battery? When the unit was plugged in, did you notice any icon that indicated that a battery was charging (a light, maybe)?? If I get further information maybe I will be able to help you more, I apologize for not being more helpful. (Hey, at least you're not dumb :) ) SMILE and be merry.

we have had 2 different types neither have lasted like they should. First we had one that was 2 screens and dvdplayer was on floor and was seperate that one was broke in a little over a year (movies would stop playing cause it claimed it was opened when closed) right now we have the disney set it is just about to be trash also it has lasted less than a year the screen the dvd player goes in can no longer hang on the seat or it says it is open and movie will not play so it has to sit on ground and we have the other screen plugged in both cost around 200$ they are more work if you want it to last forever i woudl suggest you always remove it from your car in hot or cold weather because i thinks thats why they break....honestly i think they are all junk but the ones that are installed in the head rest.....good luck

I saw your previous question a few days ago and I have not seen anything like what you want.

You may be in one of those fall off places where the device doesn't have enough market demand for what you want. But I think I have a solution.

I do think that you could find two portable DVDs that include a video out on one and a video in on the other and with a little creative wiring get what you want.

You will need two of the following players to do this and a RCA coupler set. Connect the included mini jack to RCA cable on the player with the DVD to its av out. hook the other mini to the other players input and use the coupler to hook them together.

Make sure to use headphones for best sound.

There are lots of models out there, and usually very cheap.

Might I suggest getting a model that allows for input and output and not strictly for the Car. You'll need a coupler but will be able to use these elsewhere and have the ability to have games systems or two different movies on them, but this will be a question as far as age ( since these will not have a headrest harness per say). You will need to look at good headphones or a RF modulator or mini cable or tape adapter (depending on the car).

If you gave just a little more detail i would feel better about a recommendation.

We bought this unit for a 5-day trip, the picture is very clear, better than most but right after that trip the second monitor lost its picture. We sent it back to the manufacturer, never received the item back and it's been about 2 months. Stay away from this product!

I agree with Pinkerton, description very misleading. I want to return this for the same reason!!! Says its good for walking, riding, etc. Yea, with a loooooong extension cord! Doesn't run on batteries! only car DC or AC!

This product works well in the first few months if you're lucky. Then the picture goes out. If you return it to the manufacturer, it will take months to get it back. The warranty is only good for 30 days. Please invest your money in another "portable" DVD player.

The item was very attractive but once playing during the movie it would pause/stop and I had to either push play/advance forward to get it to continue the movie. It also got very warm while playing. Overall the delivery was very prompt and the item was very well insulated. Would buy online from
